Christina & Doug’s Romantic September Wedding

From Louth with Love

From living in Canada, to a proposal in Vegas and almost a wedding in Mexico, this Louth couple fell in love with the charm of Ballinacurra.

After deciding against getting married in Mexico, despite have the ‘save the dates’ printed, Christina and Doug looked at several venues on the West and South coast. Ballinacurra came up again and again during their research for “intimate private venues” and when I saw some of the photos, the house reminded them of Doug’s family home through its decor and the architecture.

His family live in a 350 year old house originally functioning as a linen mill with an underground canal, water mill and so many other quirky features that make it unique just like Ballinacurra. The old mixed with the new. They loved it and booked within a week of finding their dream venue.

It is often said that the best moments of the wedding are those little moments with family and friends and this wedding was no exception.

The highlights for this lovely couple were having the house to themselves for the day after the wedding too so they could enjoy making the most of the property. Seeing the younger family members  playing at the tree house. Seeing aunts and uncles find little nooks around the house to relax with a cup of tea or rest in a chair to read.

First Dance

Just seeing everyone make the most of and enjoy their time together. The good times usually tend to roll on for evening number 2 when everyone is ready for drinks and craic in a more relaxed setting.

“I honestly have so many great memories. Even being out on the roof terrace of my room before the ceremony, to calm the nerves. In my dress, looking around and taking it all in. Amazing.”- Christine recalls.
