Sports

Whether it be water based or land based, Kinsale and its seaside location has a variety of world class facilities to suit the expert or novice group.

Horse riding

Horses have always played an important role in the literature and folklore of this Celtic Island.  From the legend of the great warrior Oisin who disappears beneath the waves astride a beautiful white steed, to the great Cuchulainn and his mighty chariot horses – there is a kind of magical legacy.  Known as ‘the land of the horse’, Ireland boasts some of the best riding you could wish for.

And Kinsale is no exception with various equestrian centres which cater for every known variation from the freedom of beach riding, field hacks and cross country rides, to indoor arena dressage and show jumping.

sailing

The coast south west of Kinsale provides some of the best cruising grounds in Europe.  The Kinsale Yacht Club has been established since 1950 and as a significant sailing centre for many years, hosts some of the country’s largest events.  And only 20 minutes drive away is the Royal Cork Yacht Club which is also the oldest in the world and steeped in history and tradition and hosts the world famous Cork Week Regatta.

We work closely with a number of professional sailing instructors who can give basic tuition and then take the teams on a race in Kinsale Harbour, or who will let the more experienced sailors hire the boats for their own challenges.

Windsurfing and Watersports

Opportunities for watersports abound around Kinsale from waterskiing, powerboating, sea kayaking, river kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing, surfing and more – whether you want to go on your own or if you would like some team challenges organised for your group.
